These Cloud Swatches are fast, plein air observations…
The vigorous atmospheric conditions on Mt Murray are astonishing.
Its a combination of being high up on an escarpment and pushed hard against a coastal plain.
One can actually observe clouds coming into form, just appearing at eye level, out in the vista due to two different air currents colliding.
These paintings are a reaction to the increasing amount of work I do in front of a computer .
In a communication I had recently with painter Enrique del Val I wrote :
“I have gone in a very large arc with my work. I started as a painter, went into photography, then film, then digital.
I find digital media interesting but I do so much of it, that this year ive gone back to the paints… Its a beautiful place to be “
These works are a celebration of my environment and a return to a medium that I have been sorely missing.
