Anomalous Object Over Port Kembla Wins Goulburn Art Award 2012

“Anomalous Object Over Port Kembla”  #1  ( .90   x 1.8 m)  photomontage/ pigment print /cotton rag

…as if from a Jules Vernian future

The Furukawa Copper Smelter “Stink Pipe”dominates the Port Kembla landscape.

With this image I have collided the old with the new- a regular theme in my work -and inverted the stink pipe by making it lighter than air- suspended like a strange artifact above the Tasman Sea.

Much like the dirigible floating above it, the pipe, now demolished , has become an anomalous object, strange and unlikely, as if from a Jules Vernian future.

Special Thanks to The Goulburn Regional Art Gallery and Arthead !

Im reblogging this post from July.
I was thinking of entering Anomalous Object Over Port Kembla into the Goulburn Art Award but I was so busy and decided it was too much hassle….until Celeste Coucke said it had to be done !
    Thankyou Celeste XXX
