Have you ever tried to paint or draw in the moonlight ? At 500,000 times dimmer than the sun its kind of tricky…then theres always the Purkinje Effect which makes things look blue.
There’s gazillions of brilliant night paintings (check out this by Archip Iwanowitsch Kuindshi for example) but they must have been made after the fact.
The ‘ narrowed visual bandwidth’ of moonlight however can be captured digitally ( albeit a little too accurately ). Unable to see a thing with night time plein air and confused by the overage of pixels with photography, the charcoal drawing below is made from memory.
